Whenever we go through a slump — whether it is from boredom, failure, or depression — we’re forgetting how to live a meaningful life. A trap we fall into is thinking that someone or something outside of ourselves can give our lives meaning.
Though it’s easier to be a taker than a giver, giving is far more gratifying than taking. We can purchase more with nine dollars than we can with one dollar, yet human nature prefers one earned coin over nine unearned coins given as a gift.
Most of us are familiar with the embarrassing, ego-deflating sting of being judged by someone else. We easily recognize the moment when we look down and say to ourselves, “Wait? I’m not OK?”
We all have secrets — the question is what you think your deepest secret looks like? Is it dark and shameful , or is it something bright and beautiful?
Fear is not doubt. While fear can be your friend, doubt stops you in your tracks. Healthy fear — as in being alert and on your toes — can save you. Without fear we could get hurt. We can be out of touch. Fear is triggered when you feel danger or something amiss. Fear is not being oblivious to a situation but being aware of it and acting accordingly. Fear keeps you safe through healthy caution, motivates the mind to action, and avails self-defense.
Life is synonymous with movement. Death is when this movement comes to a halt.
Each of us contains a powerful soul with fire in its belly. Fire is passion. Each of us will, at one point or another, encounter spiritual opportunities; passionate moments which will entice and light up our fires, craving transcendence – the need to get beyond the daily grind.
