On the 6th of Mar-Cheshvan 5752, Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, a prominent Israeli Posek and then Sephardic Chief Rabbi in Israel and a long-time friend of Lubavitch, came to visit the Rebbe.
“One should be careful and make an effort to recite the Sanctification of the Moon while dressed in dignified and attractive garments, in the street and ‘in a multitude of people [wherein] is the glory of the King.’
To reach the king in his chambers, one needed to first approach the secretariat and book an appointment for Yechidus… Waiting time was on average three or four months, due to the number of people looking to enter the Rebbe’s room and meet with him face to face and soul to soul.
In light of the Rebbe’s words in 5748 (1988) about building new homes and buildings, Agudas Chasidei Chabad decided to finally begin the long-awaited, much-needed expansion of 770.

In 5786 (1986) an idea came up to give the Rebbe a gift — a new stretch Cadillac for his frequent visits to the Ohel. Until then, the Rebbe was using an older car – a 1977 model Cadillac. The car was donated by the famous philantroipst and Chassid, Rabbi Zalman Gurary. The first ride was scheduled for Purim Katan. a large crowd gathere
On Tuesday, the 11th of Iyar 5749, the two chief rabbis of Eretz Yisrael came to visit the Rebbe. They entered the Rebbe’s room – the Gan Eden Haelyon — and were greeted by the Rebbe with great honor. The conversation went on for a long time, discussing a wide range of Torah topics. At the center of the discussion was an extensive exchange about the Emuna in Moshiach’s arrival.
On Tuesday, the 13th of Iyar 5750, on his way back from the Ohel, the Rebbe told Rabbi Y. Krinsky that he wants to distribute a special coin on Lag B’Omer this following Sunday, less than a week away…
