THE KATYUSHA AND THE COINS

Yossi Amargi was an employee with the Israel Railways garage in Haifa on that fateful morning when a Katyusha rocket struck the depot. While the direct hit killed several of his fellow co-workers, he was miraculously saved in the merit of the coins he had received from the Rebbe decades before. To mark nine years since the Second Lebanon War, Yossi sat recently with “Beis Moshiach” to tell the story of his amazing personal salvation.

FIVE IGROS STORIES FROM RASHBI

This past Lag B’Omer, as in recent years, the Igros Kodesh tent was in operation in Miron on the hill leading to the holy tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, manned by T’mimim from the Chabad yeshiva in Tzfas. They greeted the throngs who wanted to write to the Rebbe and receive his advice and holy blessings. We bring here five miraculous stories from among many that were experienced on this auspicious occasion.

MY DREAM OF DREAMS

Mrs. Tzivia Levy woke up very early one morning after a fascinating dream about the Rebbe. In the dream, the Rebbe gave her a vast amount of gold and jewelry, and then he asked her to fulfill the mitzvah of separating the challah as the Rebbe himself made the bracha. Not long afterwards, the details of this dream miraculously began to take place, one by one, in a most amazing and unexpected fashion.

ONE LIFESAVING DESERVES ANOTHER

Shortly after Mrs. Chana Malka returned from the hospital where she had taken a seriously ill student to the emergency room, she came home and saw that her young daughter was also in dire need of G-d’s Divine Mercy. She called an ambulance for the second time that night. A few hours later in New York, the Rebbe told Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman in a revealed prophecy during yechidus: “Her mother just saved a Jewish life. She has nothing to worry about…”

THE MIVTZAIM FLOP THAT SAVED A JEWISH SOUL

The T’mimim had prepared many parties for Purim night, but despite the meticulous preparations and arrangements, the forces of spiritual evil were determined to leave them empty-handed. Two rabbinical students, invited to a party with sixty guests, arrived only after most of the disappointed participants had already left. What eventually happened? An amazing story of success on Mivtza Purim.

THE AMAZING PRINTING PLATES

A businessman who asked for the printing of a Tanya received instructions from the Rebbe to use the meticulously accurate printing plates prepared by Rabbi Sholom Jacobson. They had been made with great toil and effort by a printer in New Jersey, and they were placed in the cockpit of an airliner and sent to the airport in Frankfurt, Germany. From there, they were transferred to the Lufthansa offices in South Africa and taken for safekeeping at a local Chabad House. A dramatic 3 a.m. phone call brought the printing plates back to the center of attention, and ten years after the story began, Rabbi Jacobson met the child who had been restored to life in the merit of the Tanya printing.

AGAINST ALL ODDS

R’ Chaim Efraim Dabush, a fifty-five year old Jew from Mazkeret Batya, received the gift of life through a revealed miracle from the Rebbe, Melech HaMoshiach. He was critically injured when he fell from a height of five floors in a building in Phoenix, Arizona. The doctors didn’t give much hope for his survival, declaring that at best he would live as a vegetable r”l. Yet, exactly fifty-three days after his accident, on Yud-Tes Kislev, he was released from the hospital. The open miracles accompanying this amazing incident and subsequent rehabilitation caused dozens of Jews to make good resolutions and embrace a life of Torah and mitzvos. A real Baal Shem’ske story in honor of the Alter Rebbe’s yahrzeit, Chaf-Dalet Teves.

LITERALLY SEARCHING HIS KIDNEYS

Every time Mrs. Dina Chadad passed by for dollars, the Rebbe added an unexpected bracha for her husband, and she didn’t understand its meaning. It later became clear that the Rebbe, sitting in New York, foresaw her husband’s unstable medical condition. When she realized that her husband’s kidneys had stopped functioning, there began a race against the clock to find an appropriate kidney donor. At the last minute, when it appeared that there was no hope, she received a telephone call from the Rebbe’s secretary with an amazing instruction that saved her husband’s life.

A NOBLE CONCESSION THAT BROUGHT LONG LIFE

Together with his fervent desire for the position of rav of Yekatrinoslav, Rabbi Bunin was a man with a very refined and exemplary character who recognized the greatness of Rabbi Schneersohn. He knew that he himself was more of an orator, while Rabbi Schneersohn was more outstanding for his deeds. Thus, he felt that if the community would choose their rav based on the sermon he gave, they would likely choose him and not the one who was better suited for the job. Rabbi Bunin was faced with a difficult internal struggle, and he eventually decided to withdraw his consideration of this lofty post, choosing instead to use his connections on behalf of Rabbi Schneersohn’s election. His decision was made with a heavy heart, but also with absolute determination…
