The Rebbe writes to the Chassidim about the importance of connecting Jews with the Rebbe
As the farbrengen drew to a close the Rebbe summarized the call of the hour — to increase study of Torah, especially on Moshiach matters:
The Rebbe’s words in the 28 Nissan sicha reverberated strongly in the Jewish world. Many revolutionary ideas came up, like public fasts and mass prayers at the Kosel, and were proposed to the Rebbe. The Rebbe responded by clarifying that nothing out of the ordinary was necessary, “just” to increase in Torah study and meticulous observance of Mitzvos, while heightening the faith and anticipation of Moshiach’s imminent arrival.
This farbrengen, coming in a time so strongly related to the Geulah, focused on how the theme of Moshiach is apparent in the parsha of the week, Tazria-Metzora, which largely discusses the laws of leprosy.

26 Nissan 5751 − April 10 1991 (2) At this talk, the Rebbe directed long moments of the talk to the recent events of the Persian Gulf War, which he announced to be the harbinger of the ultimate Geulah.The Rebbe remarked that these miracles are so great that “we should have not been embarrassed to dance in the streets from sheer joy!”
A famous teaching of the Baal Shem Tov has it, that “Once there was a seven-year war between two gentile [kings] so a Tzadik would be able to hear a melody from the war marches which he used to serve Hashem.” (Kesser Shem Tov, Hosafos, Chapter 150) In this next part of the letter, the Rebbe expounds on the historic message this miraculous war carries for the spiritual mission of the Jewish people:
