The Rebbe in #1174, Balak, D'var Malchus

30. Tammuz 17, 5751 − June 29, 1991 (2)

At this farbrengen, that took place on the 17th of Tammuz that came out on Shabbos, the Rebbe described how as we approach the time of the Redemption, the positive aspects of the day and of the month come to the forefront, deeming it a “Chodesh HaGeulah” – a month of Redemption. The Rebbe went on to describe various stages in the rapid approach of the generation towards the Geulah.

…Within our generation itself, there is an added innovation this year:

In addition to finding ourselves in literal proximity to the true and complete Redemption,

this year 5751 — which in Hebrew popularly abbreviates the sentence “It shall be a year in which I will show you wonders” —

is the year in which the prediction of “As in the days of your departure from Egypt, I shall show you wonders”  will materialize.

The Rebbe doesn’t leave this to be understood as a wish, or even something occurring on a spiritual plane:

We have, in fact, already witnessed wonders — the events of the Persian Gulf War — that testify that this is “the year in which the King Moshiach will be revealed,”

and even “the time when the King Moshiach comes … and announces to the Jewish people, ‘Humble ones, the time for your Redemption has arrived’” (as described in the Yalkut Shimoni)

As well as the announcement that “Behold, he (the King Moshiach) is coming,” allowing also for the translation that “he has already come.”

The Rebbe goes on to coin a new term that encapsulates this new reality, in which the events of the Redemption have begun to unfold, and at the same time we still experience many of the hardships of galus.

What all these developments mean is that we already stand on the threshold of the beginning of the Messianic Era, as well as on the threshold of the beginning of the Redemption,

the continuation and culmination of which shall occur imminently.
