We spoke with Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Segal, spiritual director of Yeshivas Tomchei T’mimim in Natzrat Ilit, and asked him how to prepare for Yud Shevat. * The Rebbe himself outlined the path to hiskashrus, by learning the teachings of the Nasi HaDor.

To mark the great day of Yud Shvat, Avrohom Rainitz presents the memories of the Rebbe’s personal secretary, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Groner, that were shared in a rare interview. They covered the period from the histalkus of the Rebbe Rayatz until the Chassidim merited the Rebbe’s acceptance of the Chabad leadership on 11 Shvat 5711
This Shabbos, Parshas B’Shalach, is the special day of 11 Shvat. While the official day of the acceptance of the Nesius was on Yud-Shvat, the Rebbe puts a special emphasis on the following day, the first official day of Dor HaShvii, the seventh generation. In the sicha of VaEira 5752 (also see Besuras Geula, chapter 59), the Rebbe speaks about the specialty of our generation that began on the 11th day of the 11th month and the year 5711.
Milestones in the turbulent life of Rebbetzin Rivka, wife of the Rebbe Maharash, who administered the court of Lubavitch and was a model of a Chassida-mekusheres. She looked out for everyone in need, and her expertise in the stories of the history of Chabad and the chain of the Rebbeim became the basis of the Memoirs written by her grandson, the Rebbe Rayatz. The Rebbetzin was the first mother of the T’mimim and many Lubavitch girls are educated in schools named for her. * Presented for Yud Shvat, the day of her passing
It was shortly before World War II. In Warsaw, capital of Poland, there was a veritable Jewish kingdom, blessed with many Chassidic streams and courts. These groups counted tens of thousands of Chassidim, including prodigious Torah giants, budding Torah scholars and those who revered them.
Beis Moshiach presents Section 7 of the maamer the Rebbe MH”M delivered on Yud Shvat 5717, in accordance with the custom established by the Rebbe to review each year a section of the Rebbe Rayatz’s maamer Basi L’Gani of 5710. • This year we focus on the seventh section of the profound and foundational Chassidic discourse.
A few minutes before his passing, the Rebbe Rayatz lifted himself a bit from the bed and screamed these words. He then lay back down, and a scant few minutes later his holy soul soared heavenward. * In honor of Yud & Yud-Aleph Shvat, the day of the passing of the Rebbe Rayatz and the day the Rebbe formally accepted the Nesius, the Rebbe’s secretary, Reb Yehuda Leib Groner, shared with Beis Moshiach his memories of yechidus experiences, the t’fillos, the farbrengens, the work of preparing the maamarim for print, the Rebbe’s daily yechidus with the Rebbe Rayatz, and the belief in the Rebbe Rayatz as Moshiach. Until the hearing of the bitter news, that long Shabbos in the shadow of painful grief, the drama that unfolded at the burial and the powerful statement that the Rebbe said to him the day after the funeral.
This Shabbos (Bo) is the Shabbos before Yud Shvat. All Chassidim are preparing themselves to be “Mekabel the Nesius and Malchus” of the Rebbe. In this article we will “farbreng” based on the HaYom Yom that the Rebbe personally chose for Yud Shvat.
It would seem that there is not a single Chassid who does not carry inside him, in a hidden corner of his soul, a pure and precious diamond that he treasures above all else. This diamond is his special and unique moment with the Rebbe, whether the moment that his eyes met the Rebbe’s eyes, the moment of some pivotal event in his life, or a moment of impact that changed the course of his life.
To mark the special day of Yud Shvat, Dov Levanon presents a compilation of stories about the relationship between the Rebbe MH”M and the T’mimim, unusual expressions about hiskashrus to the nasi, and the Chassidic conduct expected of the “seventh generation.”
The Rebbe Rayatz asks us for mesirus nefesh. Not earth-shattering mesirus nefesh, but the type of mesirus nefesh which entails forgoing our desires in order to do Hashem’s will. Pursuing this entails effort similar to or even more than the ultimate in mesirus nefesh as we know it. * From a speech delivered by Rabbi Shmuel Butman at the Yud Shvat farbrengen in 770 in 5772.
