Over a period of thirty-five years, Rabbi Abba Brenenson of Kfar Chabad has been involved in the holy work of a scribe, writing strictly kosher tefillin, mezuzos, and Torah scrolls, and the demand for his merchandise is extremely high.
For more than thirty years, they travel together, in the snow and cold, rain and heat, to do Mivtza Mezuza in yet another Jewish home in Brooklyn. * Every Wednesday, after finishing the daily shiur of Rambam they both attend, they get into a car, one as the driver and one as the direction finder, in their attempt to do what the Rebbe wants of them. * Avrohom Rainitz joined R’ Mordechai Chein and R’ Hirshel Morosov on Mivtza Mezuza and reports to us.
It was towards the end of the past summer, during an ordinary round of mivtzaim on the streets of Yerushalayim, when I encountered a Jew by the name of Yaakov Dilmoni. Yaakov is the political adviser for R’ Eli Ben-Dahan, Deputy Minister of Defense and Member of Knesset.
On Motzaei Yud Shvat 5734, the Rebbe gave the signal for the Mezuza Revolution. The Rebbe spoke about the importance of having mezuzos on the doorposts in every Jewish home and about checking mezuzos every year. * The terrorist attack in Maalot took place a few months later and astonishingly, there were 21 murdered which corresponded to 21 pasul mezuzos in the school they attended. The Rebbe affirmed the connection. * The Rebbe urged the Chassidim to undertake a major campaign to raise awareness of the importance of the mitzva and even sent $10,000 for the cause. * Forty years since Mivtza Mezuza began.
