A moving story about feeling Geula even in prison. * Presented for the Chag Ha’Geula, 12-13 Tammuz.
About the relationship between the Rebbe Rayatz and Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, despite the physical distance between them and the difference in their ideologies and approach. Letters on communal matters were sent from Lubavitch to Yerushalayim and from Yerushalayim to Lubavitch. The Rebbe then met R’ Sonnenfeld in person when he visited Eretz Yisroel in 5689. * Presented for 12-13 Tammuz.
Thirty-five years have already passed since the histalkus of my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe. G-d forbid to say that for thirty-five years he has not been among us. G-d have mercy upon us for such a mindset! * The opposite is true. For thirty-five years now the Rebbe has been present among us and within us “more than when he was alive,” and from year to year his vitality and activity in the physical world progressively gains force.
In order to clarify his intent, the Rebbe qualified the term by saying, “long life – chayim aruchim.” Everyone knows that “chayim aruchim” means “life” in the literal sense, physical life (as the term is used in nusach ha’t’fillos, in Slichos, and the like).
