WHAT IS THE APPROPRIATE AGE TO START TEACHING ABOUT MOSHIACH?

We have discussed on many occasions the importance of learning the Sichos of the D’var Malchus (Nissan 5751 – Adar 5752), which are filled with the Rebbe’s instructions to us about living with Geula and Moshiach.

WHICH IS GREATER: PESACH I OR PESACH II?

We are currently in the special days of S’firas HaOmer, the counting of the Omer and are quickly approaching the holy Yom Tov of Lag B’Omer. We are not just counting the days that are passing; rather we are working to make every part of every day count.

ID PLEASE!

In the HaYom Yom of 6 Iyar, the Rebbe writes: “Our sages said, ‘One should not take leave of his friend other than with a parting word of Torah-law, a d’var halacha.’ Our forefathers, the saintly Rebbes, explained: The parting word should be the kind of Torah teaching that transforms the listener into a mehaleich. Such progression embodies the superiority of the human soul over the angels, for this ascent is greatest through an act of goodness; extending a favor to another, a material favor in general, a spiritual favor in particular.”

WHAT DOES OUR BELOVED REALLY WANT?

There are many inspiring days throughout the year. This is especially true if you add all the Chassidishe dates that we celebrate, of which B”H there are many. Yet there is one date in the calendar that serves as a wake-up call out of our reverie and the comfortable exile mentality: the 28th of Nissan.

CELEBRATING THE HERE AND NOW

They tell a story of three people who were schmoozing about what type of eulogy they would like to be said at their funeral. The first one said, “I would like the Rabbi giving the eulogy to stand up, look at the coffin and say that the person lying there was known to be a very smart and learned man.” The second person said: “I wish that the Rabbi would get up, look at the coffin and say that the person lying here lived with Mesiras Nefesh for Yiddishkait and the education of his family.” The third one said: “I think it would be great if at my funeral, the Rabbi would get up, look at the coffin and say… ‘He’s moving! He’s alive

ROYAL PEDIGREE

This Shabbos (VaYikra) is the first Shabbos of the month of Nissan the חודש הנשיאים – month of princes. The simple reason for this title is because the first 12 days of Nissan we read about the Korbanos that the נשיא of each shevet brought in honor of the dedication of the Mishkan.

CHITAS, RAMBAM, AND MOSHIACH

This Shabbos (VaYakhel-P’kudei) is Shabbos Mevarchim of the month of Nissan, the month of Geula. It is also the second Shabbos Chazak of the year, a Shabbos in which we receive extra strength to be successful in our upcoming Avodas Hashem. As Chassidim, in addition to preparing for Pesach, we are also preparing for 11 Nissan, the 115th birthday of our Rebbe. Every Chassid wants to add in his Avodas Hashem and his commitment to fulfilling the directives of our holy Rebbeim.

THE COLD WAR FINALE

This Shabbos (Tetzaveh) is Shabbos Zachor, when we remember what Amalek did to the Jewish people when they left Mitzrayim and our responsibility to destroy Amalek. While we cannot physically destroy Amalek until the time of Moshiach, we can still fight the klipa of Amalek.
