REB YISROEL NEVELER:
IN GOOD TIMES AND BAD, FAITHFUL TO HIS MISSION

Despite the suffering R’ Yisroel Neveler endured in his life – he lost eight out of his eleven children – he rejoiced in his lot and drew others into his simcha. * In Tashkent there were many chadarim, but his was the best. He guided his students in yiras Shamayim and implanted emuna in them, emuna in the ways of Chassidus. * He passed away on 9 Iyar.

SO WHY ARE WE IN THE BRONX ZOO?

While historically we felt that the main responsibility was on the Tzaddikim – Rebbeim – and we would do our small part, the Rebbe shifted the responsibility onto us. It is not a message of desperation, it is a message of empowerment. The Rebbe – and all the Rebbeim – have prepared us for this special mission and we can, must, and will accomplish it.

PESACH SHEINI: SEIZE THE DAY!

The message the Rebbe taught in connection with Pesach Sheini is that nothing is a lost cause; you can always fix it. In life, we are faced with hardships and situations which seem hopeless, but we are told this is never the case. Even if we messed up, we can make amends. * A compilation of stories on this subject as told by shluchim.

ONE DAY

The “mere” desire to be there places us there in consonance with what the Baal Shem Tov taught: “A person is where his will is.” If we truly want to be with Moshiach—and express that desire sincerely by attempting to live our lives in harmony with the ideals of Moshiach—we are there!

MODEL OF A CHASSIDIC ACTIVIST

The Chassid who had connections with everyone. The Chassid who did not have to ask for appointments to meet with heads of state. The Chassid whom the Rebbe Rayatz promised “Imi b’mechitzasi,” and the Rebbe cried when he said that he was farbrenging now in Gan Eden. • For his passing on 9 Iyar 5723.

LIKE A FATHER TO A SON

“My first yechidus with the Rebbe lasted nearly thirty-five minutes, and he showed an interest in me like a father to a son.” He began his search secluded in the forests of Australia, eventually making his way to the Chabad shul in Melbourne. He now resides in the Holy City of Tzfas, after establishing a generation of baalei t’shuva at Yeshivas “Ohr T’mimim” in Kfar Chabad. He recently closed an amazing circle in his life, as two letters from the Rebbe arrived at his new home, decades (!) after they had been written. A fascinating talk with the chassidic gaon, Rabbi Shneur Zalman Gafni.

LET THE ONE WHO IS KIND CAST HIM OUT

The lesson from this applies to one who encounters a Jew and sees in him something lowly and unbecoming, G-d forbid, seeing him as an outcast, not worthy to be among the encampment of the Jewish people, G-d forbid. In that situation, the Torah states that prior to rendering this ruling upon another Jew, even a great sage must first make a proper self-assessment of where is he holding in kindness and love of a fellow Jew.

CHABAD MIKVA – 25 YEARS IN THE MAKING

He was moved to receive this token of their appreciation along with a bottle of water from the mikva the Rebbe had immersed in, in addition to a challa cover which incorporated a piece of the towel that the Rebbe used.

CHOOSE LIFE!

The answer lies in the deeper meaning of the word Metzora. It is said to be a contraction of two words: Motzi Ra, usually translated as “one who finds evil.” The conventional understanding is that the Metzora’s affliction is caused by his penchant to find evil in others. One may, however, suggest an alternate translation: “one who wishes to eradicate the evil” from oneself…

THE POWER OF THE INDIVIDUAL

In most of his sichos, the Rebbe Melech HaMoshiach emphasized the power of each individual. However, in the sicha from the 28th of Nissan 5751, designated by the Rebbe as “the well-known sicha,” it seems that the Rebbe placed a greater prominence upon understanding the unique strength possessed by each one of us individually, even when we are considered a part of the Jewish People as a whole.

THE NAZI HUNTER AND THE REBBE

For over fifty years, Tuvia Friedman a”h pursued Nazi war criminals in order to bring them to justice. At a certain point, he wondered whether to continue this work. A yechidus with the Rebbe convinced him to keep at it. * About the angel from heaven who protected him numerous times during the Holocaust, about his life’s work, and his connection with the Rebbe.
