The Rebbe writes to someone about how to contend with unwanted thoughts that intrude at various times:

לשאלותיו:

עצה נגד מח’[שבות] המבלבלות – בעת התפלה והלימוד, ללמוד ולהתפלל מבפנים הס’[פר] והסידור, שאר היום – לדעת בע”פ [=בעל פה] איזה פרקים משניות ועכ”פ פ”א [=ועל כל פנים פרק אחד] תניא וכשמח’[בה] מבלבלת – לחזור בע”פ (או במח’[שבה] עכ”פ [=על כל פנים]) מהפרקים הנ”ל.

In response to your questions:

Advice on how to fight against thoughts that confuse you during Davening and learning: — Learn and Daven from inside the Sefer and the Siddur.

As for the rest of the day: — Memorize some chapters of Mishnayos and at least one chapter of Tanya, and when confusing thoughts enter your mind, verbally (or at least in your mind) review by heart portions of those chapters.
