The Rebbe gives general advice on how to influence others in matter of Yiddishkeit:
איך להשפיע אל אחרים להחזירם לתומ”צ [=לתורה ומצות] – כמובן בדרכי נועם, לא להכנס בויכוחים. להראות ולהיות דוגמא חי’ – כ”ז [=כל זה] שוה בכל. השאר תלוי בתכונות המושפע וכו’ ולהתייעץ עם ידידים מכיריו בזה.
How to influence others to return them to the way of Torah and Mitzvos: – Obviously do so in a pleasant manner; not to get into arguments; to show and be a living example.
These directives apply to all people, the rest depends on the individual traits of the person being influenced, etc. You should consult with mutual friends on the best course of action. ■
