SHIRA V’ZIMRA TO GREET MOSHIACH

The Rebbe referred to the double Adars as “Sixty Days of Simcha.” We spoke with R’ Kuti Rapp, director of the Matteh Shira V’Zimra, who organizes joyous dancing every night of Adar in 770. We heard about the connection between simcha and bringing the Geula and what happened behind the scenes with the singing of Yechi on Rosh Chodesh Kislev 5753. * A happy interview.

SHABBOS AND THE MISHKAN: PATENT PROTECTED

“Moses gathered the whole community of the children of Israel and he said to them, ‘These are the things that G-d commanded to be done.’” The Torah then enumerates two things that G-d commanded: Shabbos and the building of the Mishkan, the portable Sanctuary… “These are the things that G-d commanded,” implied that these were the only things G-d commanded. How could that be, considering the fact that all 613 commandments were given at Mount Sinai, not only Shabbos and the construction of the Mishkan?

NICARAGUA WANTS MOSHIACH!

The first Chabad House in Nicaragua in Central America opened three years ago. The shluchim, R’ Dovid Attar and his wife have established a veritable lighthouse, which sends forth the wellsprings of Chassidus and the Besuras Ha’Geula in the picturesque town of S. Juan del Sur. • Preparing the world for Geula.

STOPPING THE ADDICTION

In recent years a world war has been raging between the pure neshamos of our children and the enticements of the Internet, the computer screen, and the Smartphone. Parents are not always aware of the extent of the problem. They prefer hiding their heads in the sand, leaving their children contending with it on their own. * We present voices from the front lines: a Mashpia who calls upon parents to recognize the challenge and deal with it; a girl who was caught in the net and managed to extricate herself after suffering heavy damage; a mother who warns of the destruction of the family unit, and a therapist who explains the source of the problem and how to treat it.

A DOLLAR “FOR IRELAND”

“I changed out of my nun’s clothes and made my way to 770 Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn. I waited for a lengthy period of time, as many women stood in front of me and behind me in a long line. When my turn finally came, the Rebbe handed me a dollar, and within in an instant, I found myself heading outside. Suddenly and totally unexpectedly, the Rebbe called me back. He handed me another dollar as he said, ‘This is for Ireland.’ I was positively thunderstruck. How did he know?” An amazing story about “the rabbi whose headquarters is Beis Moshiach,” as told by someone whose son had heard it first-hand.

YECHIDUS UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYES OF THE KGB

In 5728/1968, a historic visit took place when Chief Rabbi of Moscow, Rabbi Yehuda Leib Levin z”l, went to the United States. Every step he took and every word he said was monitored by Russian authorities. * During the visit, he had private audiences with the Rebbe which were also monitored by his handlers. * Menachem Ziegelboim tells of this extraordinary visit for the first time with a transcript of the yechidus and an emotional sicha of the Rebbe against those who stood in the way of his guest during his visit.

HALF-DAY, SIX HOURS AND TEN COMMANDMENTS

The Jerusalem Talmud discusses the reason why atonement was procured through giving a half-shekel. What was so special about this coinage… A partial answer to this question can be found in the symbolism of the Half-Shekel. A dispute between three of the greatest Talmudic Sages concerning this matter will introduce us to three opinions on the causes of their sin and the road to their atonement…

FROM THE SAYINGS OF CHASSIDIM

A wonderful collection of stories and sayings, recorded by the Chassid, Rabbi Shlomo Galperin a”h, which he heard from the elder Chassidim We thank the Galperin family for giving Beis Moshiach the privilege of being the first to publicize this collection of stories.

THE REBBE SETS THE TIME AND THE NAME

“We have five daughters, boruch Hashem, but we have been praying for a son for many years,” said Mrs. Cohen from Migdal HaEmek to her neighbor Mrs. Penina Levy. “We’ve been to everyone. My husband and I went to great rabbis and kabbalists and asked for a bracha. They all prayed and even made promises, but we still do not have a son.”

NRP: NO RULES, PLEASE

The number-two man in the re-born National Religious Party joined the coalition, claiming that he would be its nationalist gauge. In the meantime, while Uri Ariel is the Minister of Housing and Construction, nothing is being built in Yerushalayim. He was recently forced to admit and confirm that even in Yehuda and Shomron, things are not so rosy.

MORE POWER TO THE SHLUCHIM

In the HaYom Yom entry for 20 Cheshvan, the Rebbe says that each of the shluchim are given special abilities from the one who sent them, and what is expected of them is that they use these kochos properly to illuminate their place of shlichus with the light of Torah, mitzvos and Chassidus. I asked some shluchim what special kochos they use and to share some stories of the actual results.
